| Abstract;Proteins synthesized in cytoplasm and chloroplasts are required to be transported through the membranes of thylacoids and chloroplasts into precise functional divisions of thylacoids to form chloroplasts and to maintain their functions. Recently, it becomes clear that GTP binding protein and molecular chaperon are involved in the transport of the protein through thylacoid membrane, and that there are four pathways such as Sec protein dependent, SRP dependent, .DELTA.pH dependent and energy independent pathways which are related with the secretion pathway of procaryotes. The present state of studies on the protein transport is introduced by focusing on the factors involved in the protein transport into chloroplasts. |
