Abstract; An inhibitory neuro-transmitter GABA is synthesized by 2 of the iso-form type, GAD65 and GAD67 of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD). By preparing the gene knockout mouse of GAD65 and GAD67, the following facts were proven under the investigation. For the synapse transmission, GAD65 has been supposed to be mainly involved, and GAD67, even in its single state, is carried to the presynaptic terminal,GABA is thus being synthesized. In the prenatal stage, GAD65 is undeveloped, so GABA synthesis is exclusively carried out by GAD67, and is also participated in the palatoplasty. The postnatal GAD increases, and raises GABA in the brain. And, GAD expression is being regulated by the neural activity.
