Abstract;Therapeutic effects of single irradiation with Spead-Out-Bragg-Peak (SOBP) carbon-ion 135 MeV beam were examined on the intracerebral human glioma xenografts in nude rats, as well as the histological changes due to HIMAC therapy. We could not get the remarkable prolongation on the survival time by the treatment with 135 MeV carbon-ion beam single irradiation using the sophisticated new collimeter made by tungsten steel as compared with 290 MeV carbon-ion beam single irradiation. Howerver, the significant prolongation of survival time was obtained in the nude rats when the carbon-ion irradiation was combined with the intraperitoneal administration of the anti-VEGF neutralizing antibody.
