| Abstract;Guppies,Lebistes reticularis (Peter), were given the whole body irradiation by the HIMAC produced 290 MeV/u carbon-beams (25, 50, 80 KeV/.MU.m), 230 MeV/u neon-beams (50, 80, 120 KeV/.MU.m) and 400 MeV/u neon-beams (30, 50, 80, 120 KeV/.MU.m). After irradiation up to 50 Gy, the survivals as well as the hemorrhage spots on their skin were observed for 20 days. Epithelial cells of the intestine were labeled with 3H-TdR(3.7 MBq/ml, 3.11 TBq/mmol, 20 .MU.l/body) by i.p. injection at the days 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 after irradiation for an autoradiography, and the change in the labeling indices per plica of intestine were measured. The survival with the 290 MeV/u carbon-beams (50 KeV/.MU.m) was 17.0 days. It became short as LET value increased if the ions and energies were the same. With the same LET value, the survivals were longer as ions were heavier. The skin hemorrhage spots was increased as LET values increased with the same ions and energies. The microscopic investigation showed that DNA-synthesizing cells were decreased to the half by 15 days after irradiation. But, the number of mucosal cells per plica showed no change by the day 20 after irradiation. (author abst.) |
