Abstract;Charmonium(cc) and Bottomonium(bb) are coupled with charmed- and bottomed-meson decaying states, respectively, through the pair creation processes of light quarks. The transition potential is derived from an effective QCD hamiltonian. In the final (decaying channel) state, we assume a phenomenological short-range repulsive final state interaction between meson and antimeson. The masses and decay widths of the S-wave states of .PSI. and .UPSILON. are obtained by solving the coupled-channel equation. The final state interaction together with the transition potential works well in reproducing the masses and decay widths of states above open channel thresholds. (author abst.)
