| Abstract;A total of 34 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) associated with liver cirrhosis were treated by carbon ion beams with graded doses ranging from 48.0 to 69.6 GyE according to a protocol of hypofractionated irradiation (4-12frs). In this report, it is preliminary suggested that this irradiation regimen of carbon ions appeared to be well tolerated as compared to the carbon ion therapy with 15 fractions used in the first clinical trial while anti-cancer effects seemed to be similar in both irradiation methods.
