| Abstract; To assess the results of three-dimensional (3-D) irradiation, e.g. charged particle radiotherapy, it is required to establish the analysis method with 3-D data of dose distribution and actual clinical results. Dose-volume histogram analysis was introduced and is widely used for this purpose in conventional photon treatment. However, the results from photon treatment could not be converted directly into the high-LET charged particle radiotherapy. Purpose of this study is to establish the method using 3-D imaging for analysis of the clinical data of Heavy Ion therapy. Analysis of lung DVH for hepatoma patients indicated that lung reaction of each patient correlates with their DVHs. Further analysis with biological modeling might be useful to obtain more apparent relation and to enable the treatmentplanning to be optimized. (author abst.) |
