Abstract;Purpose of the present study was to investigated the effects of irradiation on the production of hepatocyte growth factor and collagen, which may be the important cytokines to the healing of radiation injury. In this year we studied the effect of carbon ions for the production of collagen in human skin fibroblasts after the irradiation of monoenergetic carbon ions. Measurements of collagen was performed by the dye binding assay. The amount of collagen increased at 24 hrs after the irradiation at the doses of 5 Gy at 100 keV/.MU.m and of 10 Gy at 14 keV/.MU.m. The analysis of expression of collagen mRNA in the fiblobrasts is necessary to clarify the increasing production of collagen. (author abst.)
