Abstract; In this study, as a method of betterment of children with obesity, an intervention check list was utilized for 108 children judged to be truly obese, although this could not be recognized by outer appearance. Before and after intervention, percent body fat was measured and the difference verified. 4th and 5th grade boys, as well as 6th grade girls showed a decrease in percent body fat. A comparison between schools showed that at elementary schools where parents were attentive towards their children's health, there was a clear decrease in percent body fat. It was shown by several items in the check list that the following were responsible for reduction of body fat: 1-avoiding over-eating 2-avoiding snacks after evening meals, and 3-going to bed early in the evening and waking early in the morning. These 3 items are the most important for the betterment of obesity in children. (author abst.)
