Abstract;D primary school in Ishikawa was selected as one of the model schools which promotes and provides AIDS education, including sex education, by the ministry of education. D school has been undergoing the practical study of how to effectively provide AIDS education in cooperation with families and the community through a three year plan which was initiated in 1996. Sex education was given the name of 'study of life' and AIDS education was regarded as a part of it. The purpose of this study to identify the concrete activities and the achievement which D school had been doing, and examine the appropriate method of AIDS education in school curriculum. D school has been effective in addressing the appropriate method of AIDS education, including sex education, in school curriculum. School children report improved knowledge of AIDS and they changed their behavior as a direct result of the AIDS education. (author abst.)
