Abstract; The purpose of the study is to clarify the aggregates in the community who have more needs for health education and other community health services to protect against life-style related diseases. 3425 questionnaires were sent to the residents who were thirties, forties and fifties of age in A town in Fukui Prefecture. 2993 were analyzed as effective data. Questions were practice and recognition on taking nutritionally balanced meals, reducing salt intake, maintaining adequate body-weight, practicing exercise periodically, sleeping enough time and taking health examination periodically. Residents were classified into three groups based on the health behavioral pattern, those who practice health behavior in everyday life, those who recognize importance of them but do not practice, and those who neither practice nor recognize. To identify the profile of those who do not practice, sex, age, occupation and histories of the diseases were put as explanation variables in the logistic regression analysis. The significant factors for not-practice were, male, younger in age, occupation of employee or independent manager except for periodical exercise. Those who had histories of life-style related diseases, had better behaviors compared to those who had not, they still in need of behavioral and recognition health education. (author abst.)
