| Abstract; We report two cases of allergic contact dermatitis due to Makiron (Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. LTD, Tokyo, Japan). Case 1 was a 21-year-old woman. She began self treatment with Makiron when erythema appeared after piercing her ears. Erythema with erosion and swelling increased around her left ear and gradually spread on her left cheek. Patch test reactions to Makiron (as is) and Caine mix (7% pet) were positive. Case 2 was an 81-year-old man. He was dressing a wound with Makiron. Then, irritation and erythema appeared around the lesion. Patch testing performed for Makiron and its substances showed positive reactions to Makiron (as is) and dibucaine hydrochloride (1% pet). We diagnosed both cases as allergic contact dermatitis due to dibucaine hydrochroride in Makiron. (author abst.) |
