Abstract;A 25-year-old Japanese woman had a nodule measuring 5mm in diameter on the left temporal scalp. Histologically, the excised tumor exhibited multi-lobulated epithelial tumor placed in the dermis and subcutis. The tumor cells had plump and relatively pale cytoplasm. In the center and lower portion of the tumor, there was increase of thick collagen bundles in which tumor cells were arranged in individual fashion. These features suggested malignant tumor. She underwent local re-excision and no recurrence or distant metastasis was noted. The final diagnosis was desmoplastic trichilemmoma because the architecture was benign and no cellular atypia was noted. (author abst.)
