Abstract; The patient was a 66-year-old man, who has had skin troubles involving the occipital area of his scalp for the past several years. The troubles were rashes with slight itchy sensation similar to those of perifolliculitis, and these have gradually enlarged in size and spread to the peripheries. Finally, these have become tumor of 8*6cm in diameter. We diagnosed as dermatitis papillaris capillitii. These were treated with tranilast and minocycline orally and steroid topically, but no benefitial response was found. Finally surgical resection was performed for the tumor-like out-growth. On histopathological examination, the dermis is occupied mainly by thick of collagenous bundles. Infiltration of lymphocytes, plasma cells and foreign body giant cells can be seen in the portion surrounding destructed hair follicle. (author abst.)
