| Abstract;NOV UV SHIELD (a new sunscreen product, SPF35 PA ++) was applied to total 51 cases with photosensitive diseases and dermatologic diseases in 3 university hospitals in Japan during Apr. -Sep., 1999. This sunscreen product has protective function of SPF35, PA ++ by super-fine titanium dioxide as ultraviolet reflactant without using ultraviolet absorbers, and also contains hyaluronic acid and squalane for moisturizing effect, and d-.ALPHA.-tocopherol for the inhibition of free radical formation. Ultraviolet-exposed skin area was observed after 4 weeks application of this product with informed consents. Its safety rate in total 51 cases was 90.2%, utility rate in 45 cases of photosensitive diseases was 88.9%, and side-effect among 51 cases was 3.9%. The extent of complaints was slight, and they disappeared absolutely after the application was stopped. These results indicate that NOV UV SHIELD is a highly safe and efficient sunscreen recommended for photosensitive diseases to protect their skin from ultraviolet irradiation. (author abst.) |
