Abstract;Invasive procedures, often under general or epidural anesthesia, are increasingly common in aesthetic surgery. This trend is accompanied by a higher incidence of severe complications, including death. The present lecture gives some illustrations of the importance of preoperative and postoperative examinations of blood chemistry, especially of the electrolytes, for the prevention of adverse sequelae.
