| Abstract;Penile augmentation by autologous fat transplantation, a direct application of lipourgery, has been performed for several years. There have been 116 cases of this procedure in our clinic in the past five years. Purpose: The goal of penile augmentation is to increase the size and improve the shape of the penis leaving minimal or no scarring in order to alleviate the patient's complexes with regard to his penis. Methods: The method consists in placing a graft of autologous fat in the subcutaneous layer of the penis. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and the total operative time is about 30 minutes. The procedure and the order of the penile augmentation procedure are the harvesting of donor fat tissue, the treatment of the harvested fat, fat injection in the penis and massage right after the fat injection. Results: The survival rate of fat in penile augmentation is relatively low in comparison with other sites. Absorption of the injected fat, as high as 60% on the average, is observed in the first three months following the procedure. Histologically, the surviving fat was covered by numerous capsules, and signs of neovascularization could be recognized on the inside and outside of these capsules. Conclusions: The penile augmentation by fat injection is technically a simple procedure. Not only enlargement but also elongation of penis can be achieved. It is an excellent procedure with a high degree of patients satisfaction. (author abst.) |
