| Abstract; In the present study, three cases of deep neck abscess in the patients with diabetes mellitus are reported. Upper respiratory infection preceded the abscess in two patients, and the remaining patient did not elicit the recent history of the infection. The computed tomography revealed that in all of the three patients the abscess was gas-producing, which strongly suggested the anaerobic bacterial infection. Surgical drainage in combination with intravenous infusion of appropriate antibiotics improved the abscess in two patients, while in the remaining case the abscess aggravated downward and advanced to the right pyothorax despite of the surgical drainage and the administration of CZOP, CLDM, Thoracic drainage and administration of SBT/CPZ, CLDM were effective for the pyothorax and neck abscess.
