Abstract; We describe two cases of spontaneous pneumomediastinum treated at our hospital. Case 1 is a 16 year-old boy who came to our hospital for neck and throat pain. Subcutaneous emphysema was noted. There was no incident that induced the symptom. He realized the similar symptom seveal times in the previous year. Case 2 is an 18 year-old boy. He came to our hospital for right neck and shoulder pain. He had been doing voice training for cheerleading of the sport festival every day for a few weeks before the occurrence of the episode. Subcutaneous emphysema was noted. Both cases are considered to be spontaneous pneumomediastinum because no underlying pulmonary disease was observed. Both patients recovered conservatively within a week. (author abst.)
