Abstract;Azobenzen-containing fatty acid/long-chain saturated fatty acid mixed monolayers were prepared onto a hydrophilic substratum. The trans-cis isomerization of azobenzene derivatives in the mixed monolayers was examined on the basis of UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The aggregation state of the mixed monolayers was studied by infrared spectroscopy in conjunction with diffraction methods. (author abst.)
