Abstract;Monolayers of a lipid molecule containing a chiral binaphtyl moiety(BNOC) have been studied to develop a method for controlling the membrane structure. Stearic acid(SA) was used to prepare the mixed monolayer membrane with BNOC. The previous study revealed strong interaction between optically active BNOC and SA in the mixed monolayer. The strong interaction seems to be due to hydrogen-bonding between-CO2H groups. In this study, lipid molecules having single alkyl chain and various kinds of hydrophilic groups were used to prepare the mixed monolayers of BNOC. Behavior of the mixed monolayers was studied by measuring pai-A isotherms and Brewstar angle microscopic images to verify hydrogen-bonding interaction. (author abst.)
