Abstract;Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) monolayers consisting of the hybrid of a polymer having an azobenzene side chain (6Az10-PVA) and 4'-pentyl-4-cyanobiphenyl (5CB) were prepared on mica substrates. Atomic force microscopic images showed that submicron-scale phase separation occurred when the molar ratio (5CB/6Az10-PVA) was higher than 2. (author abst.)
