Abstract; The usage of 248Cm as a target for the production of heavy and trans-actinide elements is considered. As 248Cm has not been provided in Japan, 248Cm must be purchased from abroad. However, if 248Cm can be separated from old 252Cf neutron sources, it is possible to make a 248Cm target in Japan. And so, 248Cm was separated from old tight sealed 252Cf neutron sources. In this presentation, the detail of a chemical separation method and possibility for making a 248Cm target will be reported. (author abst.)
