Abstract; We quantitated the serum titer for anti-lipoarabinomannan-B antibody, a glycoprotein of Mycobacterium cell walls, in 25 uveitis patients. An ELISA method was used in the quantitation. It was positive in 6 patients, including Behcet disease 1, sarcoidosis 1, Eales disease 1 and unknown uveitis 3 cases. Systemic signs of Mycobacterium infection were present in 2 cases, including one case each of Eales disease and unknown uveitis. None of the 6 cases showed features of uveitis which appeared to be characteristic for the presence of anti-lipoarabinomannan-B antibody. (author abst.)
