Abstract;Classifications of arteriosclerosis (atherosclerosis, medial calcific sclerosis, arteriosclerosis) are shown. In addition, 3 major risk factors of arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) (hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, smoking) and mechanisms of pathogenesis, roles of the collateral circulation and complications with ASO are described. Main lesions of ASO are atherosclerosis, and the complications of ischemic heart diseases and cerebral infarction which originate from atherosclerosis, etc. are seen high-frequently.
