Abstract; This paper describes symptoms (Fontaine classification, intermittent claudication, etc.) and complications (ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disorder, renal dysfunction, etc.) of arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO). In addition, points of inquiry (stage of the onset, existence and position of the pain, time until the claudication appearance) and points of palpation (drop of the skin temperature, palpating of the arterial pulse) in the initial diagnosis of ASO are shown. Though the popularization of noninvasive test methods such as the Doppler method is remarkable as the diagnosis of ASO, the basic medical examination methods such as conventional inquiry and palpation, etc. at the bedside are also important.
