Abstract; In order to examine the predilection sites and improvement rate, we performed an inquiry analysis on patients with adolescent/adult type atopic dermatitis (older than 13-year-old) who had been treated at the Department of Dermatology, Tokyo University Branch Hospital during the period of April 1995 to February 1996. Predilection sites; Eruptions that appeared "always" or "very frequently" were found in the neck, antecubital fossae, hands and fingers, forehead, periorbital area, back, and popliteal fossae in 125 patients (age: 19.8.+-.3.8 year-old, male: 47 cases, female: 78 cases). The prospective improvement rate at 1 to 2 years after the first visit were "cure": 2.4%, "improved": 71.2%, "unchanged": 18.2%, "exacerbated": 6.4% and "undecided": 1.6%. The prospective improvement at 3 to 4 years after the first visit was evaluated in only 55 out of 125 patients, resulting in "cure": 5.6%, "improved": 74 5%, "unchanged": 12.7%, "exacerbated": 3.6% and "undecided": 3.6%.
