| Abstract; We performed a patch test to a total of 227 patients with atopic dermatitis from January 1994 to December 1998. It is summarized in a report of the following: 1) positive ratios of Japanese Standard Allergens, topical medicaments and patient-supplied products, 2) comparison with positive ratios of the patients with contact dermatitis and 3) relevance to laboratory findings to the number of positive allergens. Positive ratios of formaldehyde and paraben mixture are higher in patients with atopic dermatitis than those with contact dermatitis. 46 case (14.4%) out of 190 cases showed positive reactions to topical medicaments. 29 cases (26.1%) out of 111 cases showed stronger than or equal to erythema reactions to the patient-supllied products. Patients with a low level of IgE RIST (<400 U/ml) reacted to more allergens than those with a high level of IgE RIST (>10000 U/ml). Patch test is useful for management of patient's daily life and treatment for atopic dermatitis. (author abst.) |
