| Abstract; We performed patch testing with three kind of metals (cobalt, nickel, chrome) on 104 atopic dermatitis (AD) patients who visited our hospital between 1993 to 1999. The patients were analysed in relation to clinical features and IgE-RAST titers. The positive patch testing rate was higher in female patients and in patients with a history of metal contact allergy. Although we could not find any relation between the severity of AD and the positive patch testing, there was a tendency that in the patients with a positive patch testing, serum IgE level was lower than the patients with a negative testing. The mean of IgE-RAST of candida and pitylosporium were rather low in patients with a positive patch testing. Pompholyx like palmar vesicles were recognized more in patients with a positive testing.
