| Abstract; In order to obtain better results of our treatment for atopic dermatitis, we performed fact-finding study of patients from four points of view. 1) What patients with atopic dermatitis think about steroid ointment therapy, 2) dosage and kinds of topical medicaments we prescribe for patients with atopic dermatitis, 3) the results of patch tests with Japanese standard series, topical ointment and cosmetics, and 4) bath habits and care of their skin. The survey of the fact-finding study revealed 1) patients need to be informed with the correct knowledge about the steroid ointment, 2) doctors need to reexamine the rank and dosage of the steroid ointment appropriate to the severity and site of individual patient's symptoms, 3) results of patch tests are helpful in detecting the agents of contact dermatitis and furthermore in choosing suitable skin care products and 4) there is still a need to enlighten patients in the way of bathing and applying moisturizer after it.
