| Abstract;We use topical drugs for the treatment of skin lesions of atopic dermatitis patients. Topical quasi drugs and cosmetic products are used to keep the good conditions of the atopic dermatitis patients skin after subsidence skin eruptions by topical drugs. Therefore, the usage period of the topical drugs is limited to a short period. This causes a problem because the topical quasi drugs and cosmetic products are used daily and their usage periods reach a longer period of time. Topical drugs must be effective for the treatment of a specific skin disease. Besides the protection function of the skin from external hazards, topical quasi drugs and cosmetic products are required to be much safer for the skin than topical drugs. There are cleansing preparations (soap, shampoo, etc.), bath preparations, cream and lotion of quasi drugs and cosmetic products for skin care. In this paper the author reports the present state of above products in Japan. The author also describes a precedent developing case of skin care products concerning skin barrier function, infection and pruritus. (author abst.) |
