| Abstract;In Nachi-Fujikoshi Corp, The PVD technolgy was developed since a quater century. It is mainly contributed that the cutting tool is coated by TiN, CrN or multilayer etc. Recently, developments of various DLC are advanced and DLC coated cutting tools are spreaded. These coatings aren't only used for cutting tools but also advanced to apply for punches, dies and machining parts. In this paper, it is shown that new surface modification technolgy of "HYBRID" that is a combination surface treatment is useful. i.e., "PVD+PCVD" for DLC system and "Plasma nitriding+PVD (PCVD)" Furthermore, a new experimental coating unit for the new technology is introduced.
