| Abstract; The railway is a low energy consumption transport. In comparing energy consumption used for one person to travel 1km in different transport, airplane consumes 4 times and automobile consumes 6 times more than that of railway vehicle. In particular, advantages of the railway of low friction between rail and wheel and low running resistance are effective for better energy consumption. On the other hand, because of low friction between rail and wheel, acceleration and deceleration force is limited. As a technical term in the railway engineering, overall phenomena of friction between rail and wheel is called "adhesion". Adhesion is crucial to traction of railway systems, and to utilize better adhesion force, slip-skid control, based on the updated microelectronics technologies, has been developed. This paper describes the purpose, method and future trend of adhesion control technologies. (author abst.) |
