Abstract;This paper presents dynamics of wheel/rail interactions from the view point of vehicle dynamics. It is very important to discuss the problem of contact mechanics of wheel/rail system with three view points, i.e., dynamics, material and tribology. Moreover, discussion which is better to have a countermeasure for contact problem from wheel side or rail side is also necessary. The state-of-art subject in this field is to control friction or creep characteristics. The optimization and control of the dynamics of vehicles should be integrated with this friction control.
