Abstract;Little is known about when and under what conditions wheel slide, the trigger for slide flat occurs. This is due to the fact that the braking force, an important element in slide flat occurrence varies greatly with the train driver's operation method. There are also indications that adhesive force, another important element in slide flat occurrence can change surrounding environment conditions. In this report, the authors study activities regarding spots in where wheel slide occurs frequently using a newly developed event recorder installed on a EMU of a JR Ltd Express train, which can accurately record how the driver handles his train when the wheel slide occurres.
