| Abstract;Recently, the effect of surface roughness, temperature and other factors on traction forces between rail and wheel under water lubricated condition has been investigated with the partial EHL theory. Some good agreements between theoretical analysis and experiments have been so far obtained. The authors theoretically estimated the effect of water temperature on traction coefficient between rail and wheel. This paper describes some experimental results carried out using a two-discs machine to investigate the effect of water temperature and roughly good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results.
