Abstract;Large sized crown ethers (1a, 1b) bearing two thiol group or a disufide bond have been synthesized. X-ray crystallographic analysis of 1a showed that this host is a macrobicyclic polyether bridged by a disulfide bond. Guest 2 is bound by the reduced form (1ared) stronger than the oxidized one (1aox). In contrast, 1box exhibited a much higher association constant than 1bred. The possible binding modes will be discussed. (author abst.)
