Abstract; The design and characterization of L-BMEIPA and D-BMEIPA bearing histidine moieties as chiral sources, respectively, were investigated. The X-ray crystallographic study revealed that the Cu(II) of BMEIPA-Cu(II) complexes is coordinated to five nitrogens of two deprotonated amide moieties, pyridyl group, and two imidazole rings. The molecular structures of L-BMEIPA-Cu(II) and D-BMEIPA-Cu(II) are present in a good mirror relationship. Such a relationship was also observed in the CD spectra, indicating that chiral complexation is achieved even in solution. (author abst.)
