Abstract;Tyrosinase functions mainly in melanin pigment formations. This enzyme catalyses the formation of orth-quinones from phenols or catechols. We have succeed in preparing and structurally characterizing of the first .MU.-.ETA.2:.ETA.2 peroxo dinuclear copper(II) complex. In this study, the reaction mechanism of the .MU.-.ETA.2:.ETA.2 peroxo copper(II) complex with phenols was explored in detail. On the basis of these results, we proposed reaction mechanism of tyrosinase catalysis. (author abst.)
