Abstract;Recent progress in device technologies, for instance, DSP, FPGA, A/D converter and D/A converter is enhancing the realization of Software Defined Radio offering flexible and adaptive wireless network systems. This paper briefly reviews the trend of Software Defined Radio technologies including its standardization. The advantages of the Software Defined Radio such as a multimode operation function, a system upgrade function and an adaptive transmission capability and their applications are discussed. Technical problems for system integration, equipment design and devices are summarized. The proposed architecture and performances of the developed Software Defined Radio prototypes are introduced.
