| Abstract;Susceptibility of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae strains to ofloxacin(OFLX) and 19 commonly used antimicrobial agents was compared by median minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC50S). As the results, the bacterial strains showed highest susceptiblity to OFLX with 0.05.MU.g/ml. The strains were also highly susceptible to norfloxacin, trimethoprim(TMP) and oxolinic acid with 0.1-0.2.MU.g/ml, followed by a combination product of sulfamethoxazole(SMX) 5:TMP 1 (ST 5:1) with 0.39.MU.g/ml, and tetracycline, doxycycline, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, thiamphenicol and SMX 20:TMP 1 (ST 20:1) with 0.78.MU.g/ml, respectively. The strains were moderately susceptible to oxytetracycline, pipemidic acid, nalidixic acid, chlortetracycline and tiamulin with 1.56-3.13.MU.g/ml. On the other hand, low susceptibility of the bacteria was shown to kanamycin, streptomycin, tylosin and SMX with 12.5-50.MU.g/ml. The MIC50 of SMX was 1,024 fold higher than that of OFLX.
