Abstract;A GPIB data acquisition system for high-rate and high-resolution sampling of time-varying signals is developed based on the real-time computer operating system RT-Linux. In this system, the real-time process for controlling GPIB devices is triggered by CPU interrupt requests raised by the hardware real-time clock, and is executed with the highest priority among all the processes under the control of the RT-Linux kernel. This mechanism enables stable, continuous, high-rate and high-resolution sampling with microsecond timing accuracy. The system is experimentally applied to superconducting gravimeter observations with very good results. This system provides a solution to the general problem of long-term degradation of the analog antialiasing filters used in many kinds of observations such as superconducting gravimetry. (author abst.)
