Abstract; In the present study we used the WEB to develop a system to create a database allowing direct input of discharge summary then compared it to the conventional system in place. The records used in the present study were summaries not requiring sketch or diagram entries We used Microsoft's Access 2000 for the database, which was then upsized on SQL Server7.0. Overall control was by Front Page 2000, and what could not be handled by it was controlled by Visual Inter Dev6.0. A comparison with the conventional system revealed greater information accuracy, fewer operations and less operation time by direct input of summary via the WEB, and greater efficiency in the recording and storage of summary. Moreover, there was no more problem of lost discharge summary. Thus, the new records system for discharge summary using the WEB served to streamline hospital office procedures and to provide an effective method for quick information access and joint use thereof.
