Abstract;We are studying laser recording on thermo-rewritable marking medium using leuco dye. In this recording method, the laser is used as a heat source instead of a thermal print head. The image can be recorded in non-contact with the medium. In this paper, we report the basic recording characteristics of thermo-rewritable marking medium using leuco dye as the function of laser power and spot size. As a result, it is confirmed that the energy required to obtain the optical density at 0.96 is 1.6 J/cm2. A high definition image with higher than 2000 dpi can be obtained by laser thermal recording.
