Abstract; We investigated the influence of oxygen upon photoconductive behavior of a liquid crystalline photoco ductor, 2-(4'-Octyphenyl)-6-dodecyloxynaphthalene(8-PNP-O12), with reference to the photoconductive behaviors of a liquid crystalline cell prepared and the characterized under Argon atmosphere. Oxygen influences not only upon the carrier transport, but also the carrier generation: oxygen affected the negative carrier (electron) transport to be dispersive, while e no effect was observed in the hole transport; it promoted hole photo-generation in the bulk, but suppressed the hole photo-injection at the ITO electrode; as for the electron photo-generation, oxygen decreased carrier generation efficiency in the bul k.
