| Abstract; In case of liquid sodium leaks from the cooling system of fast breeder reactors, sodium oxides may react with iron-based structure materials to form Na-Fe complex oxides and to proceed the corrosion of the structural materials. This study aims to explore methods to prepare pure Na4FeO3 and thermal analysis of NaFeO2 to obtain the thermodynamic data of the formed complex oxides. Pure Na4FeO3 was successfully prepared which is stable only at extremely low oxygen potential. The techniques of were established for the TG-DTA and DSC analysis of Na-Fe complex oxides. It was confirmed that the thermal analyzer may be damaged if NaFeO2 decomposes or reacts with the container at high temperature. The transition temperature, heat of transition and decomposition temperature of .BETA.-NaFeO2, which is formed in the high temperature phase were determined with TG-DTA and DSC. |
