Abstract; We found that some lactic acid bacterial strains exhibited an inhibitory effect against bile acid determination by enzymatic method. Thirty five lactic acid bacterial strains in tested 70 strains, showed the inhibitory effect. Lactobacillus casei TMC109, which exhibited inhibitory effect, showed no binding ability with a bile acid by HPLC method. The extract from Lactobacillus casei TMC109 with phosphate buffer (pH 7.5) also showed the inhibitory effect on the measurement of a bile acid by enzymatic method. However, the extract from Lactobacillus casei TMC109 with distilled water showed no inhibitory effect against the measurement of a bile acid by enzymatic method. (author abst.)
