Abstract;We developed a new charging system with the non-contact charging roller. This system has advantages of the simple structure and low ozone creation. However, at the large air gap condition, there exist a dot-like abnormal discharging mark, moreover the air gap itself varies to some extent. To solve this unstableness, in other words, to keep the air gap less than 50 .MU.m, we develop a hard roller with small straightness deviation. Also, our newly built controller system, which controls AC voltage with holding the constant current, can charge the photoconductor surface uniform and stable even if the air gap is not so stable. In conclusion, the adoption of this system makes to get high quality images over 100 K prints. (author abst.)
