| Abstract;In this paper, we first indicated subjectively obtained values of L* and contrast ratio of a reflective-type LCD (R-LCD) under light source and frame color variation which we can feel a brightness and contrast coincide with that of a reference condition. The values of the brightness and contrast ratio obtained were varied sensitively depending on the light source and frame color variation. These results indicate the possibility that reconsideration of how to measure the R-LCD is required. There has been some research on the measurement of the R-LCD. However, there are many problems such as practical problems on compiling and handling of data remaining unsolved and is not used generally yet. Secondly, as a measurement of the R-LCD, we propose a gonio-photometric measurement. Since the gonio-photometric measurement can gather large amount of raw data of the R-LCD at once, it is considered that the method has an advantage on compiling of data. In conjunction with a data processing which should take into account of the affects of the light source and frame color variation, the gonnio-photometric method is expected to be a great help in attacking the problem of the measurement of the R-LCD.
