| Abstract;The reflectance and colorimetric values of images on a perfect diffuser were calculated by taking into account both of the internal multiple reflections in the colorant layer and the light spread by the refraction at the image surface. When the colorant layer is scatter-free, the calculated reflectances agree well with the measured ones. But in case of the xerographic image formed by magenta toner with a silica additive, the calculated reflectance values differed from the measued ones in such a degree as 11.0 to 17.4 in terms of CIE LAB .DELTA.E. We investigated the scattering property of the xerographic toner layer. The scattering by the pigment seemed to increase the reflectance around 600 nm wavelength range. A model considering scattering effects is needed to obtain accurate reflection spectra of density modulation images made of xerographic toners. (author abst.) |
